4-H Achievement Day

Rose had her 4-H Achievement Day (same day as the fire station visit). She was recognized for the record book that she keep throughout the year and earned her 2nd rainbow star and stripe. Below she and Kaya are looking pretty in their green hats and whites and in the second photo she is receiving her awards!

Going to the Fire Station

The Novato Fire Protection District had it's annual open house 2 weeks ago at all the stations in Novato. Max who is always very excited about the fire trucks, was a little more subdued up close and personal. We thought Rose would be less excited about the excursion, but she was thrilled to be there!

Max is Three!! 10-04

Max turned three! He picked out his own cake and was very excited to blow out the candles and open his presents. Best of all he celebrated by waking up a few minutes after he was born 3 years ago...4:30 a.m.

The Shooting Stars

Yes - that is Rose playing soccer. Curtis and a friend a friend of ours are co-coaching Rose (and her friend, Fallon)'s soccer team this year.

Sea Ranch Fun

We all had a wonderful week at Sea Ranch at the end of July. Everyone was there (16 in all! - next year 17 , as Heather & Marcos are expecting a girl in 2009). We spent a lot of time at the beach and also went to the river one day. Rose had her first bout of poison oak and I got to visit the medical clinic (only 2nd time in 20+ years) after cutting my finger/fingernail through with a knife. I also found the largest abalone shell this year :)

Making the sea anemone squirt.

Sage and Rose looking at all the living animals in the tide pool.

Max checking out the water temperature. The kid had no fear of the water.

Uncle Anthony caught a cool eel.

Sage and Rose pondering how I found a such large abalone shell down in the tide pool and wondering if perhaps there were more and how could they get them.

Uncle KK and Rose looking for abalone and other cool sea things.

Swishing in the River.

Uncle Kedrick, Uncle Karson and Max scoping out the frogs.

Rose and Sage counting how many frogs the caught at the river.

The family crashed out after a fun day at the beach.

Tara and John - we had a pounding party for them (everyone got them a pound of something)

Max digging in the dirt and finding rocks.
Grandpa and Max walking down to explore the tide pools at Shell Beach.
